On 27 April 2017 at the UN Office in Geneva (Switzerland), a solemn event «Gukannie Viasni» was held during which the exhibition «Heritage of Belarus» was presented to the international public about the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of our country. The event was organized by the Foundation Cultural Heritage and Modernity together with the Institute of Culture of Belarus and the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Belarus to the UN Office and other International Organizations in Geneva. The purpose of the exhibition was to spread knowledge about the cultural heritage of Belarus, which we can be proud of and which distinguishes our heritage among others.
During the opening of the event in the UN Palace of Nations the festival «Gukannie Viasni» with elements of Belarusian spring traditions was hosted. Folklore band «Vetakh» of the Department of Ethnology and Folklore of BSU of Culture and Arts introduced spring rites, songs and traditional dances.
For the opening of the exhibition, the Fondation Cultural Heritage and Modernity prepared an illustrated booklet «Living Heritage of Belarus» about Belarusian rites and holidays, crafts, traditional performing arts, mythology and human worldviews.
